JAZZ '82
MAR
DEL PLATA - Hundreds of spectators enthusiastically applauded the performance of
flutist/composer ALEJANDRO SANTOS and his quartet, which turned out to be the
highlight of the "Mar del Plata International Jazz Festival '82".
It was the second such concert, held in the Teatro Auditorium, and climaxed into an unanimous ovation.
As
an interpreter and composer, SANTOS perfectly combines his talents to achieve a
unique musical style, which has been recognized by keyboardist Paul Bley.
Bley has praised SANTOS for his virtuosity and originality, and it was
this which caught the audience by surprise as fresh, innovative material.
Some
of the elements which inspire SANTOS'music include jazz improvisation and the
candombe, malambo and chacarera rhythms. These
combine with force and intensity and emerge as a language unique unto itself.
